MILEAGE SERVICES - For warranty compliance and maximum reliability.

SAFETY SERVICE - Are you not sure what your vehicle may need? Did you just purchase the vehicle and you have no service history? Our Safety Service is a  thorough look over of your vehicle to keep it safe and reliable. Think of it as a complete physical for your car, including an EKG, compression test. If your vehicle needs a minor tune up (sparkplugs), the labor is included, your old sparkplugs are out for the compression test and can be replaced with fresh ones at no additional labor charge, labor charge  for an oil change and engine air filter change is also included in the cost of the Safety Service.

OIL AND FILTER CHANGES - Even your oil changes are performed by our professional technicians. We will not be the most inexpensive, but we can guarantee the work will be done properly and we will not try to sell you unnecessary services/parts. Regular oil changes are the cheapest and most important maintenance for your vehicle.

VALVE ADJUSTMENTS - One of the most critical tune up adjustments, they are rarely needed but very important and often neglected. How do you know if a valve adjustment is due? A compression test is a good way to tell, which is an important part of our comprehensive SAFETY SERVICE.

Engines rebuilt at TOY AUTO MAN are warranted not to burn or use oil at the rate of one quart or more every 1,000 miles, leak oil or water from the engine, and not have internal mechanical problems if ALL repairs are performed as suggested by TOY AUTO MAN at the time of the rebuild, for a period of 1 (one) year , or for as many miles as are driven during this 1 (one) year period, starting the day the rebuild is completed. Engines rebuilt at TOY AUTO MAN should live a long, low maintenance life once given a careful break-in period. The initial 1000 miles on a new engine are the most crucial, and unless the following instructions are carefully followed, there will be no warranty on any of the parts or services provided by TOY AUTO MAN. Any warranty related problems must be reported within 48 hours of the first occurrence to TOY AUTO MAN at the business phone number listed below. It is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to deliver the vehicle to TOY AUTO MAN for any warranty related repairs. Under no circumstances should full throttle be used before the rebuilt engine has logged over 1000 miles!

Starting and warm up time

After starting the engine, it should be allowed to run a minimum of 15 seconds and a maximum of three minutes before driving into traffic. Extended warm up or idling is very hard on engines due to lower than average oil pressures while the engine is idling. It is best to start the car, make a quick check of your dashboard instruments to make sure all gauges are reading normal, and then start driving smoothly towards your destination.

Driving in city traffic and on the highway

Hard or quick acceleration should be avoided until the temperature gauge is at its normal operating point. While driving in traffic, the engine should be kept in the middle of its operating RPM range (if equipped with a tachometer, 2-4,000 RPM for most Toyotas). When climbing up steep inclines or going up steep hills, the engine should be kept in the upper-middle area of the operating range (3,000-4,000 RPM) and downshifted as needed so as to not excessively lug or strain the engine. When driving in heavy traffic, the temperature should be checked from time to time to make sure it is staying in the normal operating range (normally between the ¼ and ¾ marks). While on a highway or long stretch of road, the speed should be varied every couple of minutes (when the speed limit is 75 MPH, vary speed between 55 & 75 when safe for driving conditions) Full throttle must not be used at all before the rebuilt engine has logged over 1000 miles. At no time should the engine EVER be allowed to rev into or past its "red line" (for most engines this is 5,500 RPM). Expect the engine to take 5,000 miles or more to be fully broken in and achieving optimum performance and peak fuel economy.

Keeping your vehicle healthy

Keeping clean oil in the engine and clean air from the air filter are the two most important things you can do to keep your vehicle healthy. Driving without an air filter in your vehicle for even one hour can cause permanent ring damage which can only be corrected by replacement. The oil and oil filter  MUST be changed within 1,000 miles after the rebuild, and at least every 3,500 miles for the remaining life of the vehicle. Do not use synthetics, synthetic blends, or mix different types of oil in your engine. Use of Pennzoil is prohibited. Only Toyota air filters should be used in this vehicle to maximize the life of the engine. The use of any after market or performance air filters, or the incorrect installation of any air filter will void any warranty written herein.

The use, installation, or placement of any high performance, heavy duty, competition or "racing" parts by customer request in this vehicle is not covered and voids any  TOY AUTO MAN engine warranty. Use of these parts suggests that the owner is planning on or expecting to use or abuse the vehicle in a way not intended by Toyota engineers when the vehicle was designed or built. Running the vehicle harder than designed will shorten the life of your rebuilt engine.
